CHICAGO–Conrad Black has lost his appeal of fraud and obstruction of justice convictions.
The U.S. Court of Appeal in Chicago has affirmed the convictions, saying the defendants’ arguments were not sufficient to overturn the charges.
Black is serving a 6-1/2-year sentence in a Florida prison after being convicted last year on the three counts of fraud and one of obstruction of justice.
Three other executives were also found guilty.
The convictions relate to millions of dollars that prosecutors said were illegally pocketed from the Hollinger International newspaper empire, since renamed Sun-Times Media.
The former media baron has repeatedly proclaimed his innocence and has vowed to continue to fight the convictions.
