No sack of pototoes allowed!

Immigration makes our country. My parents immigrated to Canada more than 36 years ago. But they didn’t come here in a sack of pototoes. Of all places these people could of worked including a mosque, they enter into a working envoironment that is a safety hazard because of the clothing they’re ought to wear, and even though I dispise UPS with passion, these people should seek employment elsewhere. They should not be getting any preferable treatment over other people. And we all know that if a man were come to work dressed in drag they would be sent home because it would scare the rednecks home.  And yes there is acceptance of other people’s color, religion, race, sexual orientation and blah, blah, blah, tha’s not the point here folks, the point is change your attire and you’ll have less problems. The wardrobe is distasteful anyway, GIMME A BREAK! You’re in Canada not Saudi Arabia. Canada should stop being a wuss and a push over already. No sack of pototoes in a courier warehouse. PERIOD.

Deodorant is a must!

Eight Muslim women who filed a human rights complaint against the United Parcel Service (UPS) over a dress code dispute, have settled with the company.

“Everyone is very happy,” said Jacquie Chic, lawyer for the complainants, after announcing the agreement at a Canadian Human Rights tribunal this morning.

Chic would not discuss the terms of the settlement. The file will be closed once copies of the agreement are sent to the tribunal, said Karen Jensen, panel chair for the tribunal.

The women, all devout Muslims lost their jobs in 2005 because they refused to hike their skirts above the knee over their long pants. They argued that Islam requires them to be fully covered for modesty and alleged discrimination on the basis of religion and gender.

UPS said the ankle-length skirts were a safety hazard as workers climb ladders up to six metres high. Only “a gap in the process” allowed the women to work there for up to two years without being told their clothing posed a risk, a UPS manager previously told the tribunal.

The issue grew more complicated when The Star revealed that the mosque the women cited as a religious authority is disseminating slurs against Jews and Western society. As reported in today’s Star, the Muslim Canadian Congress is calling for the charitable status of the Somali Islamic Society of Canada, which owns the Khalid Bin Al-Walid mosque, to be stripped.

The mosque preaches strict adherence to Islamic law and no compromise with the West.
