Madonna Divorce Settlement

There’s no way in hell someone for example Guy Ritchie, would pass up money if it was there for the taking. Judging from Madonna’s 25 yrs or so well managed career, I would bet her fortune that she made sure when she got married that there was a prenuptial, contrary to tabloid reports. So when they say Guy didn’t want her money, that’s bullshit. I don’t believe it for second.

The Times of London reports that Madonna and Guy have managed to come to an agreement. Apparently she gets to keep the money and he gets shared custody of their two sons. They get to travel back and forth between England and America.

The 50-year-old singer had wanted all the children to live with her in New York. But her 40-year-old husband had wanted his sons to remain in London, so it appears she has given ground over the children’s future.

Ritchie, who is believed to have his own much smaller fortune of £30million, would have been entitled in principle under divorce laws to up to 50 per cent of the wealth earned during their eight-year marriage.

But friends speculated yesterday that he may have taken almost none of his wife’s money.

A friend of the pair said: “It will all be over by the end of the month. “Ritchie has done exactly what Billie Piper did when she divorced Chris Evans. She walked away without any of his money, much to her credit. He has done the same.”

BORING! Where is our courtroom drama? Dirty laundry? Recriminations? Revelations?

However, what isn’t boring is this Robin Hood/Jolly Green Giant/Christmas tree/seaweed-gone-wilddress Madonna was wearing last night at a UNICEF dinner. (Thank you Brian for drawing it to my attention.) EVAN AGOSTINI/AP PHOTO

UPDATE: AP reports:

A court schedule says Madonna and Guy Ritchie will be granted the first stage of their divorce in London Friday.

London’s High Court lists “Ciccone M L v Ritchie G S” as one of 16 cases for “matrimonial and civil partnership causes for pronouncement of decree.”

A judge will grant the couple a preliminary divorce decree, or decree nisi. After six weeks and a day they likely will be granted a decree absolute and the divorce will become final. It is unusual for the couple to attend court in such cases.
