Madonna (AKA Esther) Brings Her Jesus To Jerusalem Holy Sites

Ok, so here’s what I don’t seem to get, more like don’t want to get. People, you know, those narcissitic, self-indulged one’s who are called ‘celebrities’, who go places with an entourage and police escort. I would bet you a lot of money that if these celebrities were to show up without the entourage and all, no one would even recognize them. And especially to one of the holiest places in Israel, no one would even care. Madonna is unrecognizable without the pound of make-up she wears anyway. It could be just any grandmother/couger with her children and adopted child/boyfriend/boytoy. 

Perhaps I am jealous that I didn’t get the same treatment when I was there in April.

Ugh, no.

Madonna headed to Jerusalem’s Old City late Sunday where she toured an ancient tunnel near the Western Wall – the holiest site where Jews can pray and Madonna can play.

JERUSALEM (AP) – The Material Girl has opened a visit to the Holy Land with a spiritual touch.

Madonna headed to Jerusalem’s Old City late Sunday where she toured an ancient tunnel near the Western Wall – the holiest site where Jews can pray.

The 50-year-old pop star arrived in a black Mercedes van and was escorted into the tunnel by police. She made no comment to reporters and was whisked away about a half hour later.

Madonna isn’t Jewish, but she’s a follower of Jewish mysticism and has even taken the Hebrew name Esther.

She arrived early Sunday for a pair of concerts this week. It will be her first performance in Israel since 1993, though she came on private pilgrimages in 2004 and 2007.

Madonna is also set to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday.
